EMUGs August Update!
Just over a year and a half after the birth of EMUGs and the project has continued to build momentum on many levels in multiple states!
Here’s a snapshot of a few of our upcoming events and ventures:
The CLUb Meetings
Over 20 Clinical Leads in Ultrasound bloc and Sonographers are registered for the 2nd Sept Inaugural NSW meeting and our colleagues are following suit in Victoria in November.
The outcome will include the beginnings of a statewide coordinated approach to EM POCUS training and credentialing and the first NSW Emergency Ultrasound Strategy document – watch this space!
Key themes include:
1. Grassroots Emergency Ultrasound Training
2. Establishing and developing the CLU network – one in each ED is the ultimate aim!
3. Getting more TESL funded Sonographer Educators training ED docs in our EDs
4. Helping the ACEM Special Skills Ultrasound posts proliferate around the state
This is just the beginning…
The Re-launch of the UTEC Program
The Ultrasound Training for Emergency Clinicians program ran from 2009 to 2013 based in Liverpool Hospital until funding ceased. EMUGs have facilitated the transfer of this dormant project to Emergency Care Institute and have assisted in it’s re-format and pilot launch which has already started. Shout out to our awesome Training company Partners:
(Note we have an egalitarian approach to all our collaborators and sponsors and we wouldn’t be where we are today without their support and enthusiasm so they deserve a big thanks!
EMUGs sessions are not certified for credentialing so that we do not have conflict of interest with our sponsors and the great work that they are doing. Nor do we have the extensive resources needed to run credentialed workshops)
