Echo Cardiographer and Sonographer Ruth Ramm and Dr Luke Bayley will be presenting at the Echo session on 22nd October 2022 at the upcoming 3rd EMUGs annual SONIC Conference in Noosa, Queensland .


"Interpreting the Echo Image"


6 questions to ask yourself when interpreting an echo image. Case studies of normal and abnormal echo findings to test these 6 questions.



RUTH RAMM BAppSc(HMS), DMU(cardiac), QUT lecturer, Accredited Medical Sonographer (AMS), Echo Ed Director.


Ruth is the director of ECHO ED, an Echo Educational business based in Brisbane, Australia. Ruth is an Adult and Paediatric Echocardiographer with over 25 years experience, and enjoys creating novel ways for juniors to better understand Echocardiography, Cardiac Pathology and Congenital Heart Disease. Ruth created a number of online, interactive programs for Echocardiographers of all levels of their learning in 2021 - ECHO ED "Getting Started in Echo" online course for beginners, ECHO ED "Cardiac Pathology" online program & ECHO ED "Introduction to Congenital Heart Disease" online program Ruth is also a Senior Echocardiographer with GenesisCare working at the Wesley Hospital in Brisbane and continues to work for QUT in the Diploma of Cardiac Ultrasound post-graduate program.


"Echo in Training - A Registrar's Experience"


My experiences in learning Echo as well as the experiences of some of my Registrar colleagues and the difficulties/helpful things during the learning process. I will also talk about a few examples of when I’ve found it really helpful and when it has changed management for me.



DR LUKE BAYLEY BSc Hons (Monash), MBBS Hons (Monash), GradCertUS (MelbUni), CCPU (DVT, AAA, Lung, BELS, EFAST)


Luke studied a bachelor of Science at Monash and then went on to do Medicine with Monash as well. He is a PGY7 ACEM Advanced trainee who has principally worked at Eastern Health and, currently, St Vincent’s Health in Melbourne. He has been practising POCUS consistently since 2020 after a 6 month ED ultrasound term under the guidance of Dr Lindsay Bridgford. Luke has completed his CCPU in BELS, AAA, eFAST, lung and proximal DVT. He has also completed the Graduate certificate in clinical ultrasound (GC CLINUS) through Melbourne University and intends to continue with this with a goal of obtaining a Masters in Clinical Ultrasound.
