Central Council

The EMUGs Central Council are our Board of Directors.
A passionate team of volunteer leaders guiding EMUGs to fulfil its mission.

Alastair Maclean

Alastair is an Emergency Physician at Tauranga Hospital, where he is the ultrasound clinical lead and Director of Training. He holds a CCPU from Otago University and is the current Chair of the EMUGs Board of Directors as well as Co-Chair of EMUGs Aotearoa, New Zealand.

Lynne Johnson

Lynne is a Clinical Sonographer and Sonographer Educator in the Emergency Department (SEED) at Austin Health. She currently serves as Treasurer of EMUGs Central Council.

Lexi Nikolsky

Lexi is a FACEM from Melbourne, working at Cabrini, The Royal Women’s and The Alfred hospitals. She has CCPU's in FELS and eFAST and a keen interest in the wider applications of POCUS within the Emergency Department.

Jonathan Theoret

Jonathan is an Emergency Physician at Gosford Hospital, NSW, and Director of POCUS. He trained in Alberta, completed a fellowship in Denver, and established another in Vancouver before moving to Australia in 2014. A Board Member of EMUGs since 2017, his interests include ED echo, regional anaesthesia, and ultrasound education. He holds a Master of Clinical Ultrasound from the University of Melbourne.

Josh Monester

Josh is an Emergency Physician and Trauma Consultant at Alfred Health in Melbourne. He holds multiple ASUM CCPUs and has a strong interest in the intersection of emergency medicine, trauma, and ultrasound education. Outside of medicine, he is always on the hunt for the perfect scoop of ice cream.

Aidan Baron

Aidan is a Paramedic, Researcher, and Doctor from Sydney who has taught POCUS in prehospital and emergency care across 14+ countries. He received the Philips Young Clinical Pioneer scholarship and was named CQU Alumnus of the Year for his contributions to Paramedicine and Emergency Medicine. Aidan holds academic roles at UTAS, Notre Dame, and Kingston University London.

Mustafa Haidermota

Mustafa is an Emergency Physician at the Lyell McEwin Hospital in Adelaide. In addition to his interest in ultrasound, he is also serving as Director of Emergency Medicine in his department, where he is trying to develop a strong ultrasound culture.

Stacey Davidson

Stacey is the Executive Director of EMUGs, working with both the Central Council and Management Team to guide the organisation. From 2017 to 2022 she served as EMUGs Business Manager, where she was instrumental in shaping its sustainable evolution and impact in the POCUS world. Beyond EMUGs, through staceydavidson.com, she guides organisations and their leaders through change and growth to amplify their impact.

Romy Blecher

Romy is the General Manager of EMUGs, having first joined the organisation in 2017 as Events and Sponsorship Coordinator. With a background as a radiographer in both public and private sectors and experience running her own jewellery design, manufacturing, and distribution business, she brings industry knowledge and a passion for events and organisational management. Romy is the engine room that drives EMUGs’ efforts to achieve its mission.

Camilla Little

Camilla is an Emergency Medicine Advanced Trainee at Sunshine Coast University Hospital. In 2024, she completed an ultrasound special skills term at Port Macquarie Base Hospital and gained CCPU qualifications in 2025. She is actively involved in ultrasound teaching on the Sunshine Coast, working with both ED trainees and International Medical Graduates.

Steven Chiang

Steven is a TS4 ACEM Trainee currently working as a Trauma Fellow at the Royal Adelaide Hospital. His ultrasound qualifications include CCPU and BSELVL1. He is a strong advocate for POCUS and heavily incorporates US teaching in his day to day practice. Steven is also the trainee rep for ACEM EDUC.

Sina Sahmeddini

Sina is a Senior Emergency Medicine Registrar at the Alfred Hospital, where he is the senior ultrasound registrar, coordinating ultrasound teaching sessions and ultrasound-related projects. He holds CCPU in 7 modules and is an instructor in ultrasound courses held by the Alfred Health and in POCUS progress events.
